A Public Champion for the Public Realm
In this presentation Stephen Albonesi of Municipal Art Society will outline current issues with public realm management and investment in New York City, including a review of ongoing efforts to improve the city’s public realm. This will be followed by an examination of innovative public realm approaches in other cities around the world. Finally, the presentation will make the case for a Director of the Public Realm position for New York City, including potential responsibilities, the keys to the Director’s success, and the position’s most effective placement within the Citywide Organizational Chart.
